1 in 12 is a New-England style IPA that comes with a twist — both in form and in function. 1 in 12 utilizes the softer tangy flavour of Phatasm Powder created from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, creating an underlying and unexpected depth to the general profile. It also serves a deeper purpose: Only 1 in 12 brew masters are women, and even fewer are women of colour.
This design worked to highlight inequity in the industry, and backed up Mill Street’s commitment to diversity. Customers were prompted via QR code to explore the 1 in 12 site, which highlights the women who made 1 in 12. Additionally, Mill Street created a 20 000 dollar scholarship to help BIPOC women become brew masters.
