Let’s Hear It is Music BC’s annual multi-venue Music Festival celebrating new and emerging artists in British Columbia. The non-profit has multiple programs to help accelerate musicians careers, and the spring series of shows focuses on the this theme. For 2023, we were briefed with a DIY home grown cut and paste look with a nod to the spring season. We created butterflies from guitar picks as a visual nod to helping these artists emerge in the new season of their careers.

If there’s one thing about me, I love an emotionally ooey-gooey visual metaphor about creative growth, and this was the perfect place to use one. If there’s a second thing about me, I’m a sucker for a femme punk aesthetic. Dreams do come true.

LHI 2024

For this year, we wanted to refresh the LHI series with new graphics, a new wordmark, and a new, fresh summer vibe. The illustrations call out the unique ecosystem of Vancouver & Victoria’s music scene, scenic backdrops, and the potential displayed amongst the up-and-coming talent featured at each show. The metaphor of artists growth took a more subtle form this year, with an illustration of the Music BC mountains creating the orb-like seeds for the growing vegetation in it’s surroundings.
